Skull dish
Skull dish, Mexica-Aztec, c. 1325-1521 CE, painted ceramic, diameter 15.5 cms., Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, Paris
The dish features a skull and cross-bones. Deities associated with birth and fertility were themselves linked closely to death and re-birth.
