Mould for small figurines, with plaster figure, model height 12cms., plaster figure height 13 cms., c.1350-1521 CE, Mexica (Aztec), Royal Museum of Art and History, Brussels.

Small figures like models of temples and especially anthropomorphic figures were mass-produced. They were made in moulds like the one exhibited here and served as pendants or decorated house altars.
