Seated figure of Xochipilli, volcanic stone, Mexica (Aztec), c. 1350-1521 CE, height 74.5 cms., Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen, Mannheim, Germany.

Also known as the ‘Prince of Flowers’, Xochipilli is the god of beauty, song, love and dance. He is also known as Macuilxochitl, the god of games and gambling.
This figure was discovered in 1900 in the interior of the former Xochipilli temple in the centre of Mexico City.
