No, though of course it’s by far the most famous. According to leading Mexican archaeologist Leonardo López Luján (on our Panel of Experts) the only others are (or were) at the sites of Texcoco, Tlatelolco, Tenayuca, Santa Cecilia and Teopanzolco. Here we show an artist’s reconstruction (by pioneering Mexican archaeologist and architect Ignacio Marquina in 1931) of the twin temple shrine at Tenayuca, located some 10 kilometres to the northwest of Tenochtitlan. Like the Mexica Templo Mayor, the twin temples were dedicated to the gods Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli.
