In general terms the number of searches for most deities has increased by a factor of 3. However, there are one or two ‘rising stars’:-
• Tonatiuh has overtaken Tlaloc and his ‘vote’ is up by around x5
• Xochipilli has moved up 2 places, with his vote up by over x6
• Xochiquetzal has moved up 1, her vote up by nearly x5
• Ometeotl has rocketed up 4 places, with the vote up by over x10!
• Cinteotl has rocketed up 5 places, his vote up by x110!!!
Congratulations then are in order for Ometeotl (Duality Deity) and for Cinteotl(God of Maize).

hello! Could you please tell me if the goddesses Xochiquetzal and Tlahelcuani/Tlazolteotl are in fact the same? There is obviously a strong link between fertility and ‘filth’ in the sense of human waste as resource.
Mexicolore
They’re not the same deities, but yes there are several similarities. If you haven’t seen them already, please read the two major articles (as well as the comments on each page, where interesting points are raised) we have on Tlazolteotl and on Xochiquetzal -

I googled Ometeotl and came up with an article that argued that this Lord wasn’t real but fabricated by the Spanish. Is this true?
Mexicolore
We don’t think so! There’s been considerable debate about this, and to answer your question we’ve uploaded as full an answer as we can provide at this stage, which you can see in our Aztec Gods section, here -
