Find out moreDid children learn to play the ballgame at school?? Asked by Thomas’s Prep School (Clapham). Chosen and answered by Professor Dorothy Hosler
No, ball players were powerful and sacred figures - not everyone was a ball player. We think that they learned from their fathers, who also were powerful honored individuals. There are some female figurines wearing ballplayer regalia so perhaps the ritual game was performed by both men and women.
