School display on the ancient Maya, Chase Lane Primary, London
Our teaching team have now (2024) worked at Chase Lane Primary School, Chingford, East London, 13 times since 2008, first on the Aztecs, then on the ancient Maya. This year, Tim Barker, Yr 5/6 Phase Leader, kindly sent us photos of the Year 6 corridor displays ‘inspired by your workshops’...
This year we were delighted to meet up again with Nicola Purton - now retired, she first invited us to Chase Lane Primary, having worked with us many years ago at Larkswood Primary School, nearby...
One of several interesting questions asked of our team at this school this year by a Year 6 pupil:-
Q. Did quetzal feathers continue to change colour after falling to the ground?
A. (We don’t know!)
As a thank-you for inviting us so many times to the school we gave them a fiendish jigsaw puzzle of the famous jade funerary mask of Maya King Pakal of Palenque - we forgot to advise taking a photo of it before trying the puzzle...!
Thank you, Tim, and all our friends at Chase Lane.
