National Geographic Magazine reference to the Aztecs

National Geographic Magazine tends to be overlooked as a useful teaching resource for a Key Stage 2 History topic such as the Aztecs - yet from time to time it produces some wonderful materials.

Our (several) copies of the classic December 1980 special issue on the Aztecs have been VERY well thumbed (see photos!). It was the cover of this issue that inspired us to create our animated Aztec character Tec, who heads our Mexicolore-for-Kids site...

We highlight here (top photo) a mention of the Aztecs, in the December 2006 issue, with a brief reference to the pre-Columbian codices still in existence today. The feature (see photo) was researched by Taryn Salinas - see her comment on Mexicolore by following the link below.

We plan to flag up important past (and present) issues of NGM as they relate to pre-Hispanic Mexico in the coming months... Note that NG have finally brought out a major new issue on the Aztecs (November 2010)

That’s very small text advertising it for the new issue.
