The Mexicolore team have acted as consultants over the years to major British television and radio programme producers, as well as judges in prestigious award-based competitions and festivals on Mexican culture and history.
On the Aztecs for the BBC, on Mexican food and Mexican interior design for Channel 4, on the Day of the Dead festival for Radio 2, to name a few ... as well as to countless individuals researching on Mexico. If we can't help directly we should know who can!
The photograph (right) shows Graciela’s “ofrenda” - part of the major exhibition on the Day of the Dead (‘The Skeleton At The Feast’) at the Museum of Mankind, London, 1991-1993.
On the recommendation of the Mexican Embassy, Graciela and Ian were invited by the organisers of the third International Qultural Fest (IQUF) to judge over 60 Mexican independent schools taking part in an annual contest and festival held in Bournemouth and organised by Education First (EF). The Mexicolore team were asked to judge two categories: Tourism Show and Dance. The standard of presentation -as can be seen from the photo (left) - was exceptionally high.
The team were also engaged by the organisers of the annual LUKAS (Latin America in the UK) awards in 2014 to judge the ‘Best Mexican Restaurant of the Year’ category. As you can imagine, it was a most pleasurable experience...!
Based on our expertise on the Mexican Day of the Dead festival, our directors have twice been invited to give presentations at the annual Day of the Dead event organised by Dying Matters, a broad based and inclusive national coalition of 30,000 members, which aims to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards dying, death and bereavement.
